Origins

Our shopper totes are made by talented handicraft women in rural Bangladesh. The women have the option to work at the community centre or at home to fit in with their family lives'. The women are paid directly. The company who make these proudly support the education, healthcare and livelihoods of the craftspeople in Bangladesh who have become “extended family”.  

Conscious Design

Our woven totes are crafted from jute, a 100% biodegradable and renewable fibre, and coloured with AZO free dyes.

A hectare of jute plants consumes about 15 tonnes of carbon dioxide, releasing 11 tonnes of oxygen. Cultivating jute within crop rotations enriches the fertility of the soil for the next crop, benefitting farmers and their communities. Jute is also free from toxic gases when burnt. 

Our jute bags are handmade and no machinery is used throughout the process, except during the dying process. 

Care

Use slightly damp brush or cloth to remove dirt.  Colour may bleed when wet therefore please take care when in contact with any liquid. If your bag does come into contact with any liquid, please lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight. As this is a natural product and natural dyes the colour may fade when in direct sunlight for long periods of time.
